I live in suburban America. Cars are just How You Get Places; there are no passenger trains, and buses have this vague air of ‘dangerous people might ride those’ about them. If ‘Sherlock’ took place in suburban America, Sherlock’s car would be full of trash and camping chairs and odd little pieces of old cases, and John’s car would be very clean and very well cared for, like a little sanity island. He would be kind of proud of it, and see it as one area of his life that the craziness couldn’t get to quite as easily.
